Blog to Summarize the Year

Personally, I think 7th grade has been a pretty amazing year. First of all, we got the chances to try out for the school play and attend speech meets, which I was very excited about. There was also vendor lunch available on Fridays and who could say no to Fizzoli’s? In this blog I will be talking about the highlights, lowlights, and everything in between to give an overview of the 7th grade.

We’ll start with the highlights. The entrance to 7th grade brought much more freedom to an everyday school day. I thought the teachers were great because they gave us class time to work on projects and reminded us daily of upcoming school events or fieldtrips. I remember being very excited for different creative artsy projects and such. Oh, and don’t forget the school play and speech! I loved being a part of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead by Tom Stoppard. In fact, I was devastated when the production came to an end. But thankfully that was just the start to my time in the theater, I hope. Speech was the next happiest event on my list. Winning at a competition brings the best feeling. I can’t wait to experience more speeches next year!

Now, to begin the lowlights, 7th grade was much more rushed. The project due dates came faster then ever, the homework load was enormous, and extracurriculars took up my evening. I barely had time to read. A few lowlights I had were staying up quite late to finish up my procrastinated homework. And I almost fell asleep in French class a couple times… Sorry Madam! In the end I managed to get everything done but I’ve got to remember to write everything down in my planner. Sometimes I forget and my homeowrk that day is late.
I also thought there was so much drama this year. Whether it was lunch table fiascos, texting arguments, or threats/criticism, there was always a problem with the 7th grade girls. I hope 8th grade brings a more calm, peaceful environment.

Lastly, I wish 7th grade didn’t have to end. Don’t get me wrong, I am beyond thrilled for summer, but something about being on the fourth floor without seeing Mrs. Simkins room across from my locker doesn’t seem right. And what about all the times Mr. Palo came out of his room at the end of the day to yell at everyone with his bullhorn to get out of the hall? Does anyone recall the first speech meet? The nervousness and tension was literally hanging in the air. These are some things we’ll never experience in the same perspective again. I for one am glad, for all the laughs, jokes, and memories of 7th grade. Have a great summer everyone.
